Largely sterile hybrid of nos. 1 [Mentha arvensis L.] and 4 [Mentha aquatica L.], approaching no. 1 in the form of the infl, but more robust, often hairier, with narrower cal-teeth, and with a sickly odor; 2n=42-132. European cultigen, rarely intr. with us.
