Locally abundant in sand among basalt boulders of wash; herbage pale gray-green, tepals pale lavender, with darker tips; anthers dark gray-purple (flowers of other individuals often with paler pigmentation. [successful in cultivation (clay soil) at 1217 Granite Creek Lane, Chino Valley, AZ]
