Locality: United States, Illinois, Ogle, About 1 mile north of Oregon. East-facing slopes along the west side of Illinois Route 2, generally between the main [southern] entrance road to the Stronghold and Blackhawk Presbytery and the camp and an iron-gated stone entrance, 0.8 kilometers north of the southern main entrance.

Habitat: Margin of mesic to wet-mesic upland forest with Staphylea, Viburnum prunifolium, Cornus alternifolia. Dolomite outcrop area. Rather common several-stemmed erect perennial, flower yellow (early flower) leaves darker above, pale below; in partial shade, slope, margin of forest.
