Habitat: Alluvial silt and sand. Floodplain (bottomland) forest with some openings, also including old river oxbow, now ponds/sloughs. Forest dominated by Acer saccharinum, Chasmanthium latifolium. Flowers pink; rather common erect herb; edge of forest near highway bridge.
