Includes highway right-of-way, raised abandoned railroad bed within forest, up to active north-south Union Pacific railroad line on the east. Mississippi River floodplain. Ware 7.5 minute U.S.G.S. quadrangle. Elevation about 340 feet.

Alluvial soil modified by forest, disturbed loamy sand with humus.; Mesic upland forest and floodplain forest mix, including Acer negundo, Celtis laevigata, Quercus spp., Carya, Ilex decidua, Asimina triloba, Ulmus.; Common tightly-clumped multistemmed perennial herb, leaves generally dark green and grass-like, spikelets hidden among leaves. Closely associated with Carex blanda and Viola striata.
