Locality: United States, Colorado, Gunnison, Gothic. Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory. North Pole Basin. From base of road in Schofield Park, up through spruce-fir forest to gate and cabin sites by ford and lower ponds. Site 5. Talus slope from road up to cliff band above stream just below dam and ford at first pond, and below upper cabins.

Habitat: Plants among rocks and on low, meadow "islands" among rocks. Spruce band above near cliffs. Lots of low willow among rocks and scree.

Description: Heads very immature. Pappus capillary. Phyllaries in one main series still adnate in bud. A few outer phyllaries with dark tips and marginal cilia. Only 2-3 heads/branch. Heads radiate? Leaves irregular-dentate, oblanceolate, winged-petiolate below, sessile above. Herbage ~glabrous, but with short, cobwebby tomentum on upper leaf surface.

Reproductive Condition: Bud
