Habitat:
Plants among rocks and on low, meadow "islands" among rocks. Spruce band above near cliffs. Lots of low willow among rocks and scree.
Description:
Heads very immature. Pappus capillary. Phyllaries in one main series still adnate in bud. A few outer phyllaries with dark tips and marginal cilia. Only 2-3 heads/branch. Heads radiate? Leaves irregular-dentate, oblanceolate, winged-petiolate below, sessile above. Herbage ~glabrous, but with short, cobwebby tomentum on upper leaf surface.
