United States, Virginia, Fauquier, Roland, S.W. base of Bull Run Mts., 2 miles N.W. of Thoroughfare Gap.
Habitat:
Planted in small garden in weedy field. Enormous herb to 3 - 3.5 m tall, stems fluted, to 3-4 cm thick, flowers pale green to deep burgundy, in large terminal panicles to 0.5 or more m long, and in uppermost axils.
