Rich calcareous woods and ravines, w/ occasional cedar glade hilltops.
Growing from mid to lower edges of rich mesic slope, in beech- oak- maple- hickory wppds and associated w/ an occasional Carex blanda; this is the dominant Carex in this area on two mostly N-facing slopes.
