Prairie remnant with Panicum virgatum, Andropogon scoparius, A. gerardi, Silphium integrifolium, Echinacea pallida, etc. These plants-Echinacea pallida, Silphium laciniata, S. integrifolium, and undoubtedly others--were not growing wild, in other words, do not constitute naturally occuring populations and therefore were not mapped. They are known to have been deliberately Sown by hand in a prepared seedbed in 1977 by Gary Eldred, President of the Prairie Enthusiasts, a group who collects seeds of native prairie grasses and wildflowers for use in ecological restoration.
