Dry, sandy railroad embankment, basalt ballast. Assoc. Arabis divaricarpa, A. missouriensis var. dreamii, A. h. var. pycnocarpa, Erysimum inconspicuum, Hedeoma hispida, Andropogon gerardii, Schizachyrium scoparium. [Only the lowest 3 fully grown internodes pubescent, but these & basal & proximal cauline lvs. too pubescent for var. glabrata; cauline lvs. (ca. 18) & siliques (20) too numerous. Specs. of v. pycnocarpa sometimes with less than 1/2, Rarely 1/4 or 1/5 (Fond du Lac Co., Fassett 15204) of the stem pubescent. TSC]
