Near bridge in river bottoms. Limbs nearly to base. [possibly a hybrid Q. ellipsoidalis X Q. coccinea - BFH] [I agree with Jensen on this - the acorn cap shape suggests the thickened - inrolled-margin form of Q. ellipsoidalis, but the flatter cap and nearly orbicular nuts suggest introgression from Q. ruba. Q. velutina and Q. coccinea are not involved. - A.L. Hipp, 2007]
