Location Remarks: Thornton Fractinoal Prairie, Calumet City: 156th St. and Superior St. South central section of prairie, near two isolated black oaks.
Habitat: Small oak savanna island in mesic prairie
Associated Species: Quercus velutina, Coreopsis tripteris, Smilacina stellata, Rhus glabra, Silphium integrifolium, Baptisia leucantha, Aster azureus, Helianthus divaricatus, Solidago nemoralis
Description: Large shrub thicket 15'x7', 4' high. No fruits visible. Catkins formed. Larger thicket nearby
