United States, Indiana, St. Joseph, St. Joseph County Fairgrounds, South Bend, Indiana. Abundant in gravel and clay in a practice arena or holding area just east of the Horse and Pony Show Arena.
Abundant. On young plants, the basal rosette of pinnatifid leaves is prominent, and the stems and branches are mostly dark purple, growing at an angle to the substrate. As the plants mature, the basal leaves turn red and wither away; the stems and branches become decumbent and turn green (except at the base). This collection was made to show the overall aspect of the plant at maturity, which is much different than that of immature plants (see Board #393 at MOR, collected at an earlier stage of development).
