Habitat: Steep, exposed east-facing slope below eastern rim of canyon on east side of Pt. Loma. Steep gullied land with pockets of coarse to fine loamy sand; evidence of frequent top soil movement and debris flow. Sparse cover of Eriogonum fasciculatum, Lycium californicum, Ferocactus viridescens, Opuntia, Dudleya edulis, Muhlenbergia microsperma, Chorizanthe fimbriata var. fimbriata, Mesembryanthemum crystallinum, and scattered Calandrinia maritima.
Occurrence Remarks: Perennial subshrub. Fruits red and fleshy.
