Pima name vashai (grass) soof (scented), which was also their early name for Scottsdale because the plant was so abundant there. For coughs or any kinds of colds with fresh or dry nods (not pods) were chewed until the taste disappeared when they were spat out. "They pucker like green persimmons and are astringent."
