Habitat: Alluvial scrub of open oak-sycamore woodland. Exposed.; Brown silty, rocky soil.
Associated Species: Artemisia californica, Platanus racemosa, Quercus agrifolia var. agrifolia, Lepidospartum squamatum, Baccharis salicifolia, Carduus pycnocephalus.
Reproductive Condition: In early flower.
Occurrence Remarks: Occasional.; Perennial herb. Leaves dull green above, white tomentose below. Phyllaries white.
