Occasional in slight depressions in glade-like openings in post oak - Ashe juniper woodland on nearly level to gently sloping ridgetop underlain by and with exposures of Pennsylvanian sandstone, on soils mapped as shallow, stony, neutral to slightly acid fine sandy loam of the Bonti-Exray complex. Associates included Aristida purpurea, Bouteloua rigidiseta, Croton monanthogynus, Dichanthelium 32626, Digitaria cognata, Diodia teres, Erioneuron pilosum, Froelichia sp., Gutierrezia sp., Helianthemum sp., Hilaria belangeri, Juniperus ashei, Lechea san sabeana. L. tenuifolia, Mollugo verticillata, Nassella leucotricha, Opuntia leptocaulis, other Opuntia spp., Plantago (wrightiana?), Prosopis glandulosa, Quercus sinuata, Q. stellata.
