Common in strip of emergent hydrophytes on wet clayey soils on unshaded margin of pump-fed pond (stock tank) in valley between slopes of tuffaceous sandstone and conglomerate of the Tascotal Formation. Associates included Aster subulatus, Baccharis sp., Calibrachoa parviflora, Conyza canadensis, Cynodon dactylon, Eleocharis 31804, Paspalum distichum, Salix sp. (seedlings), Xanthium strumarium.
