Locality: United States, Arkansas, Prairie, Mississippi Alluvial Plain. Grand Prairie Ecoregion. USGS Hazen 7.5' Quad. Railroad Prairie Natural Area. W of Hazen. 1/6 mi. W of grain dryer between Hwy 70 and old RR bed.

Location Remarks: Vicinity of coordinates; coordinates not obtained in situ with GPS but estimated post-collection event using mapping programs. Coordinates considered accurate to within 100 m.
Habitat: Wet swale and herbaceous marsh in tallgrass prairie remnant.
Associated Species: Growing with Proserpinaca palustris, Carex opaca, C. oklahomensis, C. lupulina, Eleocharis tenuis verrucosa, Aclepias hirtella, & Ludwigia alternifolia.
Description: Plants creeping from stiff, tan rhizomes, forming dense carpets. Fresh culm bases reddish-purple.
Reproductive Condition: flower & fruit

Occurrence Remarks: Thousands of culms.
