H. Earle, Charles Meigs, and H. Krainz on a collecting trip in Mexico 6 May to 4 June 1966, Coahuila, 2 miles N of General Cepeda.

Description: Multi-stemmed mound, stem color yellow-green, rib count 8; one central, erect, golden or reddish spine, radial or axial spines tan or cream or golden or reddish; flowers collected early to late afternoon, flower diameter 45-66 mm, length 52-59 mm, outer perianth lavendar with light brown midstripe or light olive green with dark olive green midstripe fading to dark red at tip or light magenta with a light olive green midstripe, inner perianth dark pink or magenta with darker midstripe and bright red at base, additional flowers collected April 2007 and 2008; stigma lobe number 7-8, color red in center to golden red on the outside.
