Habitat: Wash on alluvial slope, sandy gravel with cobbles; creosote bush scrub. Desert pavement on nearby uplands.
Associated Species: Larrea, Sphaeralcea ambigua, Simmondsia, Hilaria rigida, Senna armata, Viguiera parishii, Lycium andersonii, Trixis californica, Cylindropuntia bigelovii, Hyptis emoryi, Fouquieria splendens, etc.
Description: Uncommon 1-1.5 m shrub in gullies and on wash margins. Dioecious, this female; some plants now sterile, presumably male.
