Habitat: West-facing birch/hazelnut drainage above spring; some areas with very thick shrub cover; some very wet boggy sections with thick moss and Marchantia; found in the drier areas or growing above boggy areas; with Populus tremuloides, Betula papyrifera, Corylus cornuta, Viola sp., Thalictrum sp., Adenocaulon bicolor, Disporum trachycarpum, Maianthemum canadense, Maianthemum stellatum, Pyrola sp., Osmorhiza sp., Lonicera dioica, Rosa sp., Equisetum sp., Cornus sericea, and Carex interior.
