Taxon Remarks: per species concept of D.B. Ward. (Novon 14: 365-371. 2004; Castanea 71: 80-84. 2006; Castanea 77(3): 273-279. 2012). Treated as Yucca filamentosa L. in Atlas of Florida Vascular Plants (www.florida.plantatlas.usf.edu), but clearly Y. flaccida and Y. filamentosa are distinct species based on Ward's work. ISOTYPE OF: Yucca smalliana Fernald. Fernald, M. L. 1944. Overlooked species, transfers and novelties in the flora of eastern North America. Rhodora 46(541): 1-21 (description, p. 8, photo fig. 1).
