Locality: United States, Michigan, Gratiot, This specimen was collected at the Maple River State Game Area in a forested floodplain in an ecotone between a forest and a swamp-like ditch. Maple River is located near Saint Johns, Michigan and in the mid Michigan area.

Habitat: This specimen was found in a forested floodplain between a hardwood forest and a ditch.
Description: The Ontario aster has thin alternate leaves that are long with serrated edges. The flower is small, about 1 cm in length with white ray pedals. The stalk length is about 1.5 feet tall.This plant was surrounded by sedges, grasses, poison ivy, maple saplings, and moss.
