Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Sedge meadow region in middle of prairie fen; no shrub encroachment; common species include Schoenoplectus pungens, Dasiphora fruticosa, Solidago ohioensis, Liatris spicata. Some small saplings in area of Rhamnus alnifolia and Frangula alnus. Vegetation mostly less than 50cm tall; about 70m east of shrubline, scattered Larix laricina and Juniperus virginiana to the east and south; ground moist but not inundated.
