Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Shrub encroached area; wooded fen possibly; Toxicodendron vernix and Larix laricina common in area; other shrubs include Salix spp. And Cornus foemina. Ulmus sp. And Acer rubrum trees close by. Ground is dominated by Carex stricta with many Asteraceae species including Doellingeria umbellata, Helianthus gigantea, Symphyotrichum firmum. Ground moist but not inundated.
