Valeriana edulis var. ciliata Torr. & A. Gray
Clint Pogue CP316
United States, Michigan, Hillsdale, Little Goose Creek Grasslands
Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Prairie dominate portion of prairie fen; about 80m east of river; common species include Dasiphora fruticosa, Solidago ohioensis, Valeriana eburnea, Schoenoplectus acutus, Liatris spicata, and Andropogon gerardii. Some shorter (<1m tall) shrubs including Cornus sericea and Frangula alnus; evidence of fire management in area; ground hummocky, moist but not wet.
