Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Sedge meadow transition zone into inundated flat; Andropogon gerardii and Dasiphora fruticosa dominate ground cover; about 40m north of Little Goose Creek; very healthy area with only young Frangula alnus saplings and scattered Lythrum salicaria individuals; common species in area include Liatris spicata, Cladium mariscoides, Solidago ohioensis, Helenium autumnale, and Schoenoplectus acutus. Ground moist but not wet; evidence of fire management in charred stems and low amount of litter on ground.
