Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Sedge meadow in middle of prairie fen; about 80m southwest of Juniper knob; Dasiphora fruticosa, Solidago ohioensis, and Andropogon gerardii dominate the ground cover; very little Frangula alnus in area, but quadrat is located by/on small patch; other species include Carex sterilis, Cladium mariscoides, Muhlenbergia glomerata, and Lysimachia quadriflora. Soils moist and marly below surface.
