Habitat: Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Open sedge meadow with several Larix laricina snags; north part of Grand River Fen. About 20m east of stream; Carex stricta dominates. Iris viriginica, Symphyotrichum puniceum, and Thelypteris palustris also common; soils very wet but not inundated; about 30m northwest of Quercus sp. tree. Odd.
