Habitat: Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Edge of woodland upland; shrubs line the border and are overtaking the center; mostly Toxicodendron vernix in area; Mattuscchia, Spiraea alba, Onoclea sensibilis, and Symphyotrichum puniceum common in area; some Carex stricta hummocks.
