A railroad (currently used andmaintained), runs almost the entire length. Within 20m on either side of the tracks is almost all herbaceous (weedy but diverse). Further from tracks there are many tamarack trees and shrubs including some autumn olive. 150m west of railroad, 200m south of boardwalk. East to west transitioned from dense Typha stand to more shrubby tamarack, Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus area with Carex and Leersia oryzoides understory. Canopy only 5-15% shrub. Ground +/- even, moist soil.
Population - Branching, not budding. 1-2 per 1m2.
