Locality: United States, Texas, Brooks, Just above E side of Vargas Creek floodplain ca. 1.1 airmiles NW of culvert on R.M. 755, ca. 0.6 airmiles SE of La Viznaga Windmill, N part of Encinitos Ranch. Santa Elena SE Quadrangle.

Habitat: Occasional in grassland or open mesquite shrubland on deep loose hummocky fine sand (Sarita Series, Grossarenic Paleustalfs) on +/- gently undulating upland mantled with eolian sand of the South Texas Holocene Sand Sheet. Associates include Acalypha radians, Aristida sp., Cenchrus spinifex, Croton glandulosus, C. parksii, Monarda fruticulosa, Helianthus praecox ssp. runyonii, Schizachyrium scoparium, Setaria ramiseta.
