Habitat: Common in grassland openings in Ashe juniper woodland on shallow stony clay loam over Pennsylvanian limestone, on gently rolling topography of broad valley. Associates include Aristida purpurea, Bothriochloa ischaemum, Bouteloua rigidiseta, Bromus japonicus, Dalea nana, Echinocereus reichenbachii, Erioneuron pilosum, Hedeoma drummondii, Juniperus ashei, Lindheimera texana, Melampodium leucanthum, Nassella leucotricha, Paronychia jamesii, Salvia farinacea, Senna roemeriana, Tetraneuris scaposa.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
