Habitat: Rare in open areas in ungrazed mesquite savanna on deep loose sand/fine sand on hummocky upland underlain by Holocene windblown deposits. Associates include Acalypha radians, Allium runyonii, Aphanostephus skirrhobasis, Brachiaria cilatissima, Chamaecrista texana, Croton argyranthemus, Dyssodia tephroleuca, Eragrostis secundiflora, Froelichia floridana, Gaillardia sp., Galictia canescens, Herissantia crispa, Houstonia correllii, Lesquerella lindheimeri, Matelea parviflora, Monarda fruticulosa, Sphaeralcea lindheimeri, Sporobolus cryptandrus, Tephrosia lindheimeri, Tetragonatheca repanda, Tetraneuris linearifolia var. arenicola, Vaseyochloa multinervosa, Verbena runyonii, and Zornia bracteata.
