Habitat: Rocky disturbed gravelly prairie. Gentle slopes. Associates include Schizachyrium scoparium, Thelesperma filifolium, Hedyotis nigricans, Opuntia lindheimeri, Liatris mucronata, Asclepias asperula, Castilleja indivisa, and Hymenopappus scabiosaeus var. corymbosus. Uncommon.
