Locality: United States, Texas, Kenedy, Both sides of main N-S road in SC part of Payne Ranch, ca. 1.6-1.7 airmiles SW of El Toro Artesian Well. Pita Camp Quadrangle.

Habitat: Rare in diverse, late successional, recently ungrazed mid-tallgrass grassland on loose fine sand of South Texas sand sheet. Level upland. Other grass dominants include Schizachyrium scoparium, Paspalum plicatulum, Elyonurus tripsacoides. Other components include Acalypha radians, Aeschynomene viscidula, Aristida longespica, Bouteloua hirsuta, Cenchrus spinifex, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Chloris cucullata, Croton argyranthemus, Croton capitatus, Croton glandulosus, Croton parksii, Digitaria texana, Diodia teres, Eragrostis sessilispica, Eriogonum multiflorum, Evolvulus alsinoides, Froelichia floridana, Gaillardia aestivalis, Galactia canescens, Helianthus praecox ssp. runyonii, Heliotropium texanum, Oxalis berlandieri, Palafoxia texana, Phyllanthus abnormalis, Rhynchosia americana, Stemodia tomentosa, Stillingia sylvatica,and Triplasis purpurea.
