Fen curves around east and south portions of the lake. Many "No Trespassing" signs posted. Mostly herbaceous Cyperaceae with shrubs on borders. Actively maintained by The Nature Conservancy. Fay Lake Road borders on east and south side fo fen. 100m north of two-track. Can make out lake 200m northeast. Less abundant Carex here and more Dasiphora fruticosa and Thelypteris palustris with occasional tamarack (alive and dead). Several Schoenoplectus stalks rising. Aspens 10m southwest. Tree density 1 living every 16-25m2.
Population - loosely clumped Carex, fruiting in area with Carex stricta, C. tetanica, Schoenoplectus pungens, and S. acutus, and marsh fern. Fairly abundant away from shrubs.
