Small fen dominated by Carex. Several shrub zones of Cornus and a large wooded zone of Tamarack, Cornus, and poplur. Autumn olive encroaching on edges and some within fen on northern side. Nirdlingers maintain surrounding prairie. Homeowner to north manacures land in the lawn fashion to the edge of his property. Less than 6m east of line of tamarack trees in southern portion of fen. Tamaracks are bordered by shrubs into a field of Carex stricta heading east from tamaracks. Near shrub/Carex edge. Dominant shrub Cornus, herb C. stricta (blooming). Ground wet, puddles form where walking, squishy noises, hummocky.
Flowers - Purple/blue in corolla, with yellow near center and dark veins coming from the yellow. Bug predator in petals (eating at it). More than 1 flower per stemDistinct clumped populations, 10-12 individuals per 1m2 for 30m2. Found amongst Carex, ferns
