Heart Lake - Prairie fen surrounding lake. Appears to be heavily encroached by invasives (Phalaris arundinacea, Typha angustifolia, Phragmites australis) surrounded by wooded upland. Heron rookery on southwest side around to the north side. Most of rookery old, but a few nests remain. Shoe Lake - Lakeside fen surrounded by woodland. Similar to Heart Lake. No management apparent. In western end of Heart Lake, wetland has many old snags of deciduous trees. It is defiantly graminoid dominated, but few asters and few discernable indicator species. Ground moist but not puddling. Several layers (2-4) of downed trees on ground. Old heron rookery. Not a lot of shrubby vegetation. Many Carex, grasses, Rubus, and shrubs.
Population - clumped, not common outside of quadrat, 3-4 inside of quadrat next to each other. Found on moist soil.
