plants 1 m. tall, branched throughout; stems slightly red; leaves plane; bracts persistent, spreading-recurved; sepal-tips subterminal, but fairly connivent; petals golden-yellow, 15 mm. long; stigma-lobes erect, greenish; main stems aborting near end and exceeded by smaller branches; hypanthium and sepals green
