ovate, 10-20 × 5-15 mm, margins dentate-serrate, faces strigose, often glandular-puberulent as well.

Phyllaries:
outer 6-10-striate, lance-ovate to lance-linear (often stipitate-glandular), margins ± entire, inner linear (± chartaceous).
Florets
40-55; corollas cream, often purple-tinged.
