Locality: USA, Arizona, Cochise, Small tributary of Montezuma Canyon at a point 1.95 km. NE. of the summit of Coronado Peak. Huachuca Mountains - Coronado National Forest. Montezuma Pass Quadrangle (7 1/2 min.).

Elevation: 1981 meters
Verbatim Elevation: 6500 ft.
Habitat: Growing among rocks in steep ravine on northwest side of tributary. The locality is partially shaded but somewhat dry. Slope about 20°; facing southwest. Evergreen Oak woodland.
Substrate: Deep, heterogeneous soil derived by in situ and colluvial processes from Huachuca Quartz Monzonite and organic detritus.
Associated Species: Cercocarpus, Rhus, Yucca, Quercus, Dasylirion, Pinus, Garrya
Description: Seven relatively-intact sporangia yielded approximately 32 normal spores apiece.
Occurrence Remarks: Locally common in a variety of habitats.
