Growing among rocks in steep ravine on northwest side of tributary. The locality is partially shaded but somewhat dry. Slope about 20°; facing southwest. Evergreen Oak woodland.
Deep, heterogeneous soil derived by in situ and colluvial processes from Huachuca Quartz Monzonite and organic detritus.
Cercocarpus, Rhus, Yucca, Quercus, Dasylirion, Pinus, Garrya
Seven relatively-intact sporangia yielded approximately 32 normal spores apiece.
Locally common in a variety of habitats.
