Locality: United States, Florida, Walton, Eglin Air Force Base. Mossy Head 7.5' Quad. North of Range C-62 and W. and E. of Little Alaqua Creek. From intersection of RR 381 and RR 285, ca 0.3 mile W. of RR 385.

Habitat: Pinus palustris dominated sandhill community with thick understory of Quercus laevis. Dominant herbaceous plants include Andropogon ternarius and Schizachyrium scoparium. Tall, robust, herb. Leaves and inflorescences are tinged with dark purple. Abundant.
