Small kettlehole lake, spring- and seepage-fed, occupying a marshy pocket in ground moraines on the central sand plain. In outlet stream through fen on W side of lake. Tussocks in very slow-flowing shallow water with very soft, almost foamy, marl. bottom. Associated with Carex stricta, C. aquatilis, C. lasiocarpa, Cladium mariscoides, Cicuta maculata, and Campanula aparinoides var. grandiflora, but in deeper water than any of these, all of which are on the very edge of the spongy fen mat.
