Fen curves around east and south portions of the lake. Many "No Trespassing" signs posted. Mostly herbaceous Cyperaceae with shrubs on borders. Actively maintained by The Nature Conservancy. Fay Lake Road borders on east and south side fo fen. 100m south of lake, can no longer see the lake. . A clump of 2-3 large oak trees 20m south of quadrat. Ground moist, but not wet. Carex meadow with Dasiphora fruticosa and Iris with a shrub layer of Cornus and Toxicodendron vernix (1 every 4m2 but denser to north and west).
Population - growing in other Carex, hard to tell where one ends and another begins, flowers more on edges than center, some have ripened fruits that have fallen off.
