Locality: Mexico, Coahuila, Maricopa County: Grown in cultivation at Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, N 33 deg 27' 33'', W 111 deg 56' 35'', 1200 ft., 366 m; accession number 1973-0261-01-1; originally received as a plant collected by Ed and Betty Gary 3268 18 May 1971 from Mexico, Coahuila, 39.4 miles SW of Cuatro Cienegas in the vicinity of the given coordinates, elevation 2950 feet; collector's notes: low limestone foothills.

Description: Flower collected mid-morning, diameter 75 mm, length 75 mm, outer perianth white or light pink with a bronze mid-stripe, inner perianth pale pinkish-purple with reddish-orange at base, tips of sepals are "feathery" and pointed; stigma lobe number 10, yellow; 2 immature fleshy, yellow-green fruit collected, diameter 5-6 mm, length 12-15 mm, no seeds. Plant is dead.
Reproductive Condition: Flowers.
