Habitat: On streambed floodplain, and deep sand benches; with Sabina osteosperma, Pinus edulis, Purshia stansburiana, Cercocarpus intricatus, Coleogyne ramosissimum, Ephedra viridis, Astragalus lentiginosus var. palans; stems decumbent, radiating from taproot; hairs simple; flowers bicolored, wings & keel red-purple, banner lighter; pods unilocular; common locally & occasional elsewhere in canyon.
Substrate: Kayenta Formation
Associated Species: Sabina osteosperma, Pinus edulis, Purshia stansburiana, Cercocarpus intricatus, Coleogyne ramosissimum, Ephedra viridis, Astragalus lentiginosus var. palans
