Locality: Bolivia, Santa Cruz, Cordillera, Bolivia: Santa Cruz Dept.: Prov.: Cordillera. 7 km S of Salinas on highway from Camiri to Cuevo. Grazed chaco forest on slopes of small hills. Caesalpinia paraguariensis, Jatropha spp., Capparis speciosa. 20°17'S, 63°27'W. Alt. 920 m. Shrublets, unbranched or with a few branches on oldest plants to 2.2 m tall. Stems tapered, to 6 cm. in diameter at base; bark peeling into tan papery pieces. Sap watery, copious. Leaves glossy green with purplish nearer the base and the petiole. Flowers odorless (9:30 A.M., mostly sunny); petals pale yellowish with purple on part outside in bud.
