Super abundant on NW-and SW-facing slopes from 10 to 110 m.
Bahiopsis triangularis, Chloris crinita, Cylindropuntia fulgida, Echinocereus websterianus, Hofmeisteria crassifolia, Mammillaria multidigitata, Stenocereus thurberi
Forming fields, the ground covered in the large, pointed burs. The developing burs are yellow-green. In several areas, most of the plants have blackened smut-infested inforescences as well as many apparently uninfected inforescences. The mother bur is usually still attached to the young and adult plants.
